SIMULATION PROCEDURE FOR THE RESPONSE OF A RADIATION DETECTOR ISSUED BY RADIOACTIVE OBJECTS AND PROCEDURE FOR CONTROL OF NUCLEAR FUEL ELEMENTS USING THIS SIMULATION.
SIMULATION PROCEDURE FOR THE RESPONSE OF A RADIATION DETECTOR ISSUED BY RADIOACTIVE OBJECTS AND PROCEDURE FOR CONTROL OF NUCLEAR FUEL ELEMENTS USING THIS SIMULATION.
Procedure for simulating the response of a radiation detector (D), to the radiations emitted by known radioactive objects (16), each object containing a known radioelement or a known mixture of known radioelements, the detector being associated with electronic measuring means (7) that form a counting system, a procedure in which: - radioactive emission spectra representative of the radioelements or mixtures thereof are memorized; - the radiation detection characteristics are memorized, these detection characteristics comprising the data representative of the thicknesses crossed by the radiation before their detection, - the operating characteristics of the received radiation are memorized, these exploitation characteristics comprising the opening angle of the detector (D), the detected energy bands and the amplification characteristics of the electronic measuring means, - radioelements or mixtures of these are chosen among those whose spectra have been memorized, and - a computer is used to treat the detection characteristics, the exploitation characteristics and the spectra that have been memorized to reproduce, individually, the radiations emitted for the radioelements or the mixtures of radioelements chosen, and thus obtain the simulated response of the detector to the emitted radiations.
