This invention provides a mold (21) for forming a contact lens including anoverflow collector (38), which causesthe overflow reactive mixture (23) to be accumulated, and not to spread out asit would upon the typically flat surface of a prior artmold. The invention further provides a method of preventing the formation ofcontaminating pieces of overflow reactive mixture bypreventing the overflow reactive mixture from spreading out on the mold (21).
