AN APPARATUS FOR HEATING A RESTAURANT KITCHEN, DINING ROOM, AND HOT WATER SUPPLY

An apparatus for recovering heat from exhaust air receivedfrom a restaurant kitchen. Rotating backwards inclined fan bladesdraw exhaust air from the kitchen along a flow path and impel itagainst walls of a housing, such that grease is removed from theexhaust air. A fan motor is positioned out of the flow path. Theexhaust air is pushed out of the housing to a heat recovery coildirectly downstream that is formed from a heat conductivematerial. The coil has an internal conduit through which a heattransfer fluid is supplied at a temperature below the exhaust airtemperature, such that the fluid in the conduit is heated byexhaust air passing over the conductive material. After leavingthe conduit, heat energy is transferred from the fluid to makeupair for return to, or to water for use in, the restaurant.
