A flexible construction for an elevator gearless traction drive machine havinga framethat is easily adaptable to traction sheaves of differing widths and diameterswhile providingthe necessary stability for the drive components without an additionalstructure. The frame iscomprised of a pair of frame members joined by a plurality connecting rods.The connectingrods can be mounted in various positions based on the diameter of the sheaveto avoidinterference between the drive mount and suspension means. Longer or shorterconnectingrods may be used based on the width of the sheave.
