USE OF PLANTS OF CARPOBROTUS EDULIS AS ANTI-ITCHING AND/OR ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AGENTS

The present invention relates to the use of plants of Carpobrotus edulis commonly called "Hottentot fig" as an anti- itching and/or anti- inflammatory agent in the case of the inoculation of stinging substances, in particular following animal bites or stings on the part of insects, arachnids and/ or coelenterates, for example, or plants belonging to the family of Urticaceae, and also in the case of allergies. The present invention also relates to the use of the above plants as decongestants, refreshants, skin regenerators, as well as anticellulite agents and skin- protection agents with respect to UV-A rays. For these purposes, Hottentot figs can be used in the form of extracts obtained by cold squeezing or centrifugation, pressing or pestle-crushing of the plants, hot extraction, in the form of soaked products or in powder form obtained from the grinding of dried plants. The present invention also relates to cosmetic, pharmaceutical or food products which can be obtained from the plant and/or its derivatives.
