Provided is a color recognizing device for color-classifying a target region in an image by a clustering method in a manner to match environmental changes in more photographed images. At a learning step, learning photographed images are classified at a pixel unit into classification colors designated in advance, thereby to determine the ratios of the individual classification colors. In a color space composed of the classification colors of high ratios, the clustering is performed from the ratios of the individual classification colors of the individual learning photographed images. At a recognizing step, recognition object images are classified at the pixel unit into the classification colors designated in advance, thereby to determine the ratios of the individual classification colors. The distances are calculated between the center of gravity of the cluster, in which the individual color spaces are formed, and the coordinates corresponding to the ratios of the individual classification colors of the recognition object images. The clusters formed in the individual color spaces at the shortest distance are specified. The colors are selected and recognized from the designated colors corresponding to the individual specified clusters.
