The invention concerns a tomographic image reconstruction computation involving the breakdown of two-dimensional sets of projections of said image by a wavelet decomposition method, wherein the set of projections is separated into pictures expressing respectively the set and the details at a higher frequency of the projections. The reconstruction is performed separately on the pictures before any combination is achieved. Some properties of said decomposition, in particular in the Fourier frequency domain, enable substantial reduction of the amount of computations.
