In a process to store and fix carbon atmospheric dioxide in a geological formation with ground water, the carbon dioxide reacts with the calcium minerals in cold. The water is cooled by a surface heat exchanger and then pumped back into geological formation thereby promoting precipitation of stable carbon dioxide. The geological formation selected is one which is more soluble with decreasing temperatures. The formation contains e.g. sulphate minerals e.g. anhydrite or gypsum.
