Service devices are used in the field of automation and form, for example, interfaces between programmable logic controllers (PLC) and the installations or installation components to be controlled. Service devices such as these normally have a plurality of electrical interfaces for add-on modules, with the add-on modules being connected via control lines to the PLC, to further service devices or to installation components. The aim of the invention is to provide an add-on module or a combination of an add-on module and service device, which improve the use of the available physical space for the add-on module on the service device. The aim is achieved by an electrical add-on module (3) for fitting to a service device (1), said service device (3) having at least two module spaces (2a, b), each of which comprises electrical contact means for holding an electrical opposing contact means (4). The add-on module (3) has a housing (17), in or on which the opposing contact means (4) are arranged and at least two board levels, fitted with opposing contact means (4), are provided in the housing (17).
