The invention concerns a method for evaluating a quality, as perceived by a recipient, of a signal (OFx) carrying a stimulus. Said method includes a step of detecting (IDS) absences of variation of said signal and a step of quantifying (DQS) at least one degradation (Edi) corresponding to an absence of variation. The invention is characterized in that the quantity of degradation (Eij) calculated during the quantification step (DQS) depends on a variation amplitude (Dij) of the stimulus immediately after the absence of variation concerned. The invention enables the correlation among the duration of invariance, possible past invariances and a sudden amplitude variation following said invariance, using an automatic real-time technique.
