The invention relates to polynucleotides and polypeptides coded by said polynucleotides, involved in the biosynthesis of congocidine, an antibiotic of the pyrrolamid family, and derivatives thereof, to vectors containing said polynucleotides, to micro-organisms transformed by said polynucleotides, and to applications of said polynucleotides and said polypeptides.
