Method and device for the analysis of engine noise

The method involves determining a modulation frequency spectrum of the signal and filtering the modulation frequency spectrum, and inverse-transforming the filtered spectrum into a signal. The signal is recorded, short-term frequency spectra determined, and used to determine modulation frequency spectra. The modulation frequency spectra are filtered and inverse-transformed into a signal. An independent claim is included for an apparatus for processing signals, particularly noise from an engine.
