The invention relates to a method for the production of a toothbrush comprising a body (16,18) consisting of a handle area (10), a head area (14) and a neck area (12) located between the handle area (10) and the head area (14) and functional components which are arranged at least partially inside the body (16,18) and which comprise an electrically operated functional unit (22, 22') and a supply device (26) for the functional unit (22, 22') provided with an energy accumulator (24). The body is produced from at least one hard component (16) acting as a resistance carrier and at least one soft component (18) in an injection moulding method. At least one of the functional components is at least partially directly extrusion coated with plastic forming the soft component (18) during production of said body (16, 18).
