A digital camera, a file output method, a file output program, and an image data structure for shortening the time required for displaying the frequency distribution of gray scale levels of a subject image are provided. A digital camera characterized by image capturing means for converting a subject image into image data; storage means for storing the subject image as the image data output from the image capturing means; count means for counting the frequency of gray scale levels of the subject image stored in the storage means for each predetermined section; and output means for storing the subject image stored in the storage means and the frequency for each predetermined section counted by the count means in one file and outputting the file.
