The invention relates to a tyre tread having a design comprising a plurality of relief elements (1) in the form of blocks and/or ribs which are defined by grooves. According to the invention, a plurality of the relief elements are equipped with at least one incision which is oriented along an average orientation that is defined as the angle between a straight line passing through the ends of the incision on the running surface and the transverse direction of the tread. Moreover, each incision is defined by rubber compound walls and comprises at least two portions having average orientations which are different from the average orientation of the incision, said average orientations being measured in relation to the transverse axis. The inventive tread is characterised in that at least one protuberance (10) is formed on at least one of the incision-defining walls on at least some of the above-mentioned portions having an average orientation that is different from that of the incision, said protuberance locally reducing the width of the incision by at least 50 % of the greatest width (E) thereof.
