Weapon station test unit and method for testing the operational readiness of a weapon station of an aircraft

The test unit (1) includes a weapon simulation mechanism (12) and a test and evaluation mechanism (14) that operates in a cooperating manner, such that data traffic between the weapon simulation mechanism and the on-board electronics (24) of an aircraft (2) is supervised by the test and evaluation mechanism during the real-time simulation process. The test and evaluation mechanism also examines the plausibility and correctness of the data supplied from the on-board electronics of the aircraft. The weapon simulation mechanism and test and evaluation mechanism are parts of an integrated computer (10) which is electrically connected to a weapon station (20) of the aircraft through a weapon station connection. The test unit also has a current supply connection for electrical coupling with the aircraft and for supplying the test unit with the on-board voltage of the aircraft. An independent claim is included for the weapon station test method.
