The analysis of steel used, expressed in wt%, is summarized by: C 0.3-0.4, Si 0.7-0.9, Mn 0.6-0.8, Cr 2.2-3.0. The remainder is iron, with the usual melt impurities. Following cooling from rolling temperature, and formation of a bainitic main structure with an ultimate tensile strength of 1300-1550 N/mm2, it is cooled in still air. When necessary, the track component is annealed to relieve internal stresses resulting from the manufacturing processes. The steel with largely bainitic structure, is welded to a rail of grade R260 or R350HT, incorporating it into the track. The track component ultimate elongation exceeds 10%. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the corresponding rail points or switch components made from steel.
