The method involves determining an operating condition value, which indicates the operating condition of a component of an ophthalmologic device. The operation condition value is transmitted from the ophthalmologic device to a remote monitoring device (2), where the operation condition value is received by a receiving device. A maintenance time point of the component is determined based on the operating condition value in the monitoring device using an extrapolation function.
