SUBURETHRAL SLING FOR THE SURGICAL TREATMENT OF FEMALE URINARY INCONTINENCE AND SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS USED TO POSITION SAME

The invention relates to a suburethral sling for the surgical treatment of female urinary incontinence and to surgical instruments used to position same. The inventive sling comprises a flexible band or mesh (1) of macroporous monofilament polypropylene which is used to support the urethra. The central zone of the sling is equipped with two smooth edges (2), while the arrow-like remainder thereof is uneven and equipped with variable toothed forms. The sling also comprises a transverse black thread (10) which marks the midpoint thereof and which is used to position same flat beneath the mid-urethra using a curved clamp (12) having a conical tip with an eye (14). A curved perforated needle (17) having a conical tip with an end eye (19) is used to position the band (1) in the proximal urethra. The opposite end of the aforementioned needle (17) is equipped with a control device or handle (20) having a thread fixing system. The mesh (1) also includes two monofilament threads (11) which are interlaced at the ends thereof and which are used for traction and tension adjustment purposes.
