A method and associated oscillating apparatus for facilitating the transverse insertion of metal bars having any cross-section, on a transfer and feeding disk or disks (2) and/or chains for automatic machines. The disk (2) with peripheral contoured teeth (3) is actuated by means of the shaft (1) and is allowed to oscillate angularly back and forth by means of an eccentric element (8). Said disk picks up individually a metal bar (4) from the hopper (5) and conveys it on command until it falls by gravity onto the feed chute (6) of the automatic machine.
