The procedure for waste water treatment in activated sludge purification plants by upstream denitrification, comprises continuously supplying raw water from an upstream buffer container in single-way plants for biology in alternating phases with increased and decreased supply rates, down-regulating the supply of raw water on the desired supply rate by the container, temporarily storing the surplus raw water supplied in the buffer container, and conveying the buffered quantity of the raw water with the increased supply rate. The procedure for waste water treatment in activated sludge purification plants by upstream denitrification, comprises continuously supplying raw water from an upstream buffer container in single-way plants for biology in alternating phases with increased and decreased supply rates, down-regulating the supply of raw water on the desired supply rate by the container, temporarily storing the surplus raw water supplied in the buffer container, and conveying the buffered quantity of the raw water with the increased supply rate. The decreased supply rate of the raw water is 10-70%. The increased supply rate of the raw water is 100-300%. The phases with increased and the decreased supply rate are 0.5-3.0 hours. The supply rates of the individual supply in multi-way plants are temporally displaced into the individual way, so that the total supply corresponds to the raw water supply. A phase with an average supply rate is interconnected between the phases with increased and decreased supply rate and/or with decreased and increased supply rate. The biology is aerated first 10-60 minutes with increased supply rate after beginning the phase.
