Method and system for collecting IP TV channel statistics

It is disclosed that, in order to collect viewing statistics, channel selection information can be collected from one or more signal distribution device's that are used to connect a plurality of customer environments to an IP based network via which one or more television channels are distributed. By each signal distribution device information is logged that originates from set-top boxes comprised by customer environments. The logged channel selection information is collected by a server that is connected to a network. If the information collection takes place frequently, it is possible to achieve an on-line overview of the viewing behavior of customers.
