In order to provide a switch (1) for interrupting a polyphase alternating current in the medium-voltage range with a number of pole units (10) which corresponds to the number of phases of the alternating current, which pole units each have interrupters arranged on a supporting frame (11) consisting of insulating material and have switching contacts, which can move in relation to one another and are connected to a drive, which is common to all the pole units (10), via a lever mechanism, wherein the pole units (10) are arranged next to one another and the drive is accommodated in a drive housing (2), which has a front face remote from the pole units (10), with which switch it is possible to cover the drive mechanism in a cost-effective manner given variable distances between pole centres, the invention proposes that the front face of the drive housing (2) is extended by means of additional covers (12) to a switch front face, and the additional covers (12) are fixed to the drive housing (2).
