Device to prevent the spread of explosions, in particular dust explosions

A quenching agent fits in a vessel for a quenching agent. A triggering device (2) is set up to capture part of kinetic energy from a blast wave from an explosion running at a higher speed. The triggering device is also set up to open the vessel for the quenching agent by means of the captured energy and to drive the quenching agent out of the vessel for the quenching agent until a second blast wave arrives. An independent claim is also included for a system against spreading explosions, especially dust explosions, in a pipe, a channel or a shaft, e.g. in an elevator, a bucket elevator, a transportation shaft or a pipeline.
