HIGHLY DIRECTIONAL, HIGH LUMINESCENCE SUPER-PERIODIC PHOTONIC CRYSTAL LEDS

摘要

A highly directional and high luminescence LED using a photonic crystal structure including a periodic defect is provided to reduce a manufacturing cost thereof and minimize the number of external optical elements. An LED using a photonic crystal structure includes a periodic defect of an epi-structure in order to improve a longitudinal direction characteristic. The periodic defect is formed by performing an etch process. An etching range corresponds to a depth of one selected from a doping layer and a quantum well layer. The LED has a highly directional characteristic. A production cost of the LED is reduced by reducing a manufacturing cost of the LED having the highly directional characteristic and minimizing the number of external optical elements.
