A system for automatically separating a fault section of a distribution line is provided to obtain the accurate data for the remote separation of the fault section. A system for automatically separating a fault section of a distribution line includes a line switch(500), a switching controlling unit, a controlling unit, an FRTU(Feeder Remote Terminal Unit)(300), and a distribution managing system. The line switch is installed on each distribution line, and performs the switching of each distribution line. The switching controlling unit is installed at the same electric pole with the line switch, and controls the switching operation of the line switch. The controlling unit detects the wavelength of fault zero phase sequence current flowing in a neutral line of the distribution line, determines the polarity on the secondary voltage of a zero phase sequence current transformer(Z-CT) of the neutral line, and converts the direction of the determined fault zero phase sequence current flowing to (+,-) or (0,1). The FRTU consists of a communication module which transmits the direction of the fault zero phase sequence current to the distribution managing system. The distribution managing system recognizes the starting point of the corresponding fault current determined by the controlling unit, controls the controlling unit to command the closing of the line switch of the corresponding section, and automatically separates the fault section by commanding the line switch of the line connected to the closed section to be connected. The FRTUs are connected on the same electric pole through serial communication. The FRTU and the distribution managing system consist of long distance communication modules.
