A method for preventing engine stall of a vehicle having an idle speed actuator, includes a first step of setting the degree of opening of an idle valve when air is charged to a manifold, a second step of judging whether an engine is at an idle state, whether a vehicle speed is lower than a predetermined level, and the degree of opening of the idle valve set in the first step is higher than a threshold value, and calculating the degree of opening of the idle valve on the basis of engine RPM and a coolant temperature if the conditions are satisfied, a third step of calculating an average value of the degree of opening of the idle valve input during a predetermined time period, and weighting the calculated average value, and a fourth step of comparing the average value calculated in the third step and the degree of opening of the idle valve set in the first step, and controlling opening of the idle valve by the average value calculated in the third step if the average value calculated in the third step is larger than the degree of opening of the idle valve set in the first step.
