A symbol synchronization method of an IR-UWB(Impulse radio based Ultra Wide Band) receiver is provided to search a section of symbol synchronization with only a simple digital circuit and a low-specification 1-bit sampler, and to decide on data within the section, thereby lowering hardware complexity and power consumption. With regards to a quantized input signal passing through a 1-bit sampler and an RF(Radio Frequency) amplifier in an IR-UWB receiver, noise of the quantized input signal is eliminated(S110-S130). A synchronization point is supposed for the signal from which the noise is eliminated(S140). The synchronization point is confirmed through verification for the supposed synchronization point(S150,S160). Symbol synchronization for the input signal is obtained.
