A new artificial wetland for wastewater treatment is provided to maintain treatment efficiency stably by maximizing biological degradation by microorganisms and plants of a wetland and maximizing physicochemical treatments such as adsorption, sedimentation, filtration, etc. An artificial wetland for wastewater treatment comprises: an ecological sedimentation basin(100) including an artificial plant island(10) in which aquatic plants are planted, and which is floated on the surface of water to discharge the primarily purified contaminated water after primarily purifying the contaminated water by physically settling contaminated water, thereby removing contaminants from the contaminated water; a ground surface flowing wetland(200) having a vegetation soil(30) covered on the bottom thereof and aquatic plants(20) planted in the vegetation soil to discharge the secondly purified water after secondly purifying the primarily purified water by flowing the primarily purified water from the ecological sedimentation basin onto the vegetation soil; and an ecological filter basin(300) including an artificial plant island(10) in which aquatic plants are planted, and which is floated on the surface of water to discharge the thirdly purified water after thirdly purifying the secondly purified water by allowing roots(40) of the aquatic plants to filter the secondly purified water discharged from the ground surface flowing wetland.
