A silica gel for adsorbing organic materials and an oil component adsorbent are provided to remove volatile organic compound contained in polymer efficiently, by preparing the silica gel using a silica precursor containing an aromatic ring. A silica gel for adsorbing organic materials is produced by hydrolyzing, dehydrating, and washing a silica precursor under presence of surfactant, wherein the silica precursor has an aromatic body or a substituent body with four or more alkoxy groups. The silica gel has a pore size of no more than 50 nm and a surface area of 200-2000 m^2/g. An oil component adsorbent uses the silica gel as an effective component.
