A temperature sensitive sol-gel transfer polyethylene glycol/polypeptide block copolymer, and a method for preparing the polyethylene glycol/polypeptide block copolymer are provided to improve the drug delivery efficiency by the transfer of the block copolymer from an aqueous solution to a hydrated gel at a specific temperature. A polyethylene glycol/polypeptide block copolymer comprises 40-80 wt% of a polyethylene glycol block having a number average molecular weight of 400-6,000 Dalton and 20-70 wt% of a polypeptide block having a number average molecular weight of 200-2,000 Dalton, and has a molecular weight of 500-30,000. Preferably the polyethylene glycol/polypeptide block copolymer has a structure of a polyethylene glycol-polypeptide, a polyethylene glycol,-polypeptide-polyethylene glycol, a polypeptide-polyethylene glycol-polyethylene glycol-polypeptide, or a (polyethylene glycol-polypeptide)n, wherein n is an integer of 2-30.
