A bassett convergence measuring instrument using a fiber bragg grating sensor and a measuring method using the same are provided to need a smaller space in comparison with a conventional electric system by connecting maximum 20 sensors in series with a single strand of optical fiber. A bassett convergence measuring instrument includes a main body(60), a fixture(21), a rotator(20), an optical fiber(11), a fiber bragg grating sensor(10), and a weight(40). The main body is installed in an object. The fixture is fixed at the front of the main body. The rotator is horizontally and rotatably installed in the main body by a bearing, apart from the fixture. The optical fiber is attached to the upper outer surfaces of the fixture and the rotator to maintain a tension and has optical terminals(13) at both ends. The fiber bragg grating sensor is installed on the optical fiber between the fixture and the rotator. The weight is vertically installed with being connected to the lower part of the rotator by a support bar of predetermined length.
