An Internet gateway selection method for improving the throughput of whole mobile nodes communicating with Internet nodes in an MANET(Mobile Ad Hoc Network) by using a multiple Internet gateway is provided to mix the distance of a mobile node and the Internet gateway and the load of Internet gateways properly, thereby equalizing the load and improving the throughput. A process for calculating one's traffic load is performed in the Internet gateway(102). A mobile node(104) receives the number of hops until the Internet gateway and the AD(ADvertizing) message of the Internet gateway including the load of the gateway from the Internet gateway. A default Internet gateway enhances the transmission ratio by means of the received information. To measure the traffic load in the Internet gateway, Internet gateways measure an amount of traffics transmitted and received during a constant time and calculate through a specific formula including a weighed value. The mobile nodes transmit the AD message to a next hop when the AD message is received from the Internet gateway.
