An image processing part (10) is used to capture an image of a subject and acquire an image signal having a variable frame rate. An audio processing part (20) is used to acquire an audio signal, and an audio signal having a number of frames in accordance with the system frame rate is generated. A record signal having a record frame rate is then generated from both the image signal having the variable frame rate and the audio signal having the number of frames in accordance with the system frame rate. When a recording/reproducing part (30) is used to record, on a recording medium (35), the record signal having the record frame rate, a record/reproduction processing part (33) of the recording/reproducing part (30) is used to record, on the recording medium (35), as, for example, MXF (material exchange format) file, identification information indicative of the system frame rate and the image capture frame rate in addition to both the image signal having the variable frame rate and the audio signal having the number of frames in accordance with the system frame rate.
