A method for controlling a duplicated device in an ATCA(Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture) platform and an ATCA system implemented by using the same are provided to effectively perform duplication management without incurring costs or adding an element. Whenever a set period arrives or an event occurs, a shelf manager requests a duplication state report from two control boards which are the duplication control targets(S31). The shelf manager checks a response to the request for the duplication state report from the control boards(S32), determines a duplication state of the control boards(S33), and requests the control boards to set to the determined duplication state(S34).
