HUMAN PROTOONCOGENE, PROTEIN ENCODED BY SAME, EXPRESSION VECTOR CONTAINING SAME, AND CELL TRANSFORMED BY SAID VECTOR

A human protooncogene is provided to diagnose and prevent various cancers such as liver cancer, leukemia, uterine carcinoma, malignant lymphoma, large intestine cancer, lung cancer and skin cancer, be usefully used for an antisense or an RNA interference gene therapy and be effectively used to prepare a transgenic animal. A gene includes a sequence which encodes a protein having an amino acid sequence described as SEQ ID : NO. 2 or a fragment thereof. A method for preparing a protein having an amino acid sequence described as SEQ ID : NO. 2 or a fragment thereof comprises the steps of: (a) culturing a host cell transformed by a vector including the gene to express the protein or the fragment thereof; and (b) isolating the expressed protein or the fragment thereof. A kit for diagnosing the existence of the gene in a sample comprises a total or a portion of the gene. A kit for testing the existence of the protein in a sample comprises the protein, the fragment thereof, a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence with at least 80% homology to that of the protein or an antibody specific to a fragment of the polypeptide. A composition for inhibiting expression of the gene comprises an interference RNA molecule which inhibits expression of a GIG 47 proto-oncoprotein encoded by the gene.
