A manufacturing method of a filter media for treating middle to high temperature exhaust gases by foam coating and a filter media manufactured thereby are provided, wherein the filter media is excellent in heat resistance and resistant to thermal contraction as compared with an existing filter media, exhibits at least 99% of partial mass dust collecting efficiency, at least 99.999% of mass dust collecting efficiency, and excellent dust removing efficiency, and is useful for treating the exhaust gases in a middle to high temperature range. A manufacturing method of filter media for treating middle to high temperature exhaust gases by foam coating comprises the steps of: (1) mixing a water-soluble heat resistant resin, a foam stabilizer, a foaming agent, and a thickener at a weight ratio of 1:0.05 to 0.1:0.01 to 0.02:0.01 to 0.05 to prepare a coating solution; (2) treating the coating solution by a foam generator to prepare a foam solution, and coating the foam solution on a surface of an inorganic fiber support sheet; (3) drying the foam solution-coated support sheet; (4) pressing the dried support sheet; (5) heat-treating the pressed support sheet; and (6) cooling the heat-treated support sheet. The water-soluble heat resistant resin is a fluorine-based resin comprising a fluorine compound represented by the formula, -(CF2CF2)n-, where n is an integer between 100 and 10,000. Further, the foam stabilizer is one selected from hydroxyethylcellulose, carboxymethylcellulose and ammonium stearate.
