A method for providing a client portable terminal with a file combining a VM(Virtual Machine) with an application is provided to enable a terminal maker to remove expenses for previously installing the VM and enable a user to execute the application requiring the VM without being aware of the VM by installing the VM to the client terminal simultaneously with the application. A host computer generates one file by combining an application and a VM needed for executing the application in a client terminal. The host computer transmits the generated file to the client terminal by receiving an application transmission request from the client terminal. The host computer transmits the file corresponding to the client terminal by transmitting a query for an OS(Operating System) type to the client terminal and selecting the application combined with the VM suitable for the OS type received from the client terminal.
