An MAC(Media Access Control) communication method based on frequency hopping is provided to maintain network stability and high quality performance though nodes increase by distributing communication channels to various frequency bands. An MAC(Media Access Control) communication method based on frequency hopping includes the following several steps. A transmitting node searches for channels currently not used by referring to a channel table of the transmitting node's own. If the unused channel is searched for, the transmitting node preoccupies the unused channel. The transmitting node transmits F-RTS(Frequency-Request To Send) signals, including information on the preoccupied unused channel and information on identification of a receiving node, via a main channel commonly shared by all the nodes. The nodes which have received the F-RTS signals determine whether the F-RTS signals are for the nodes themselves. If the F-RTS signals are for the nodes themselves, the receiving nodes extract the unused channel information from the F-RTS signals and use the unused channel as a transmitting or receiving channel.
