A composition comprising an extract of Ulva lactuca is provided to have antibacterial activity on Gram positive bacteria and Gram negative bacteria and show strong antibacterial activity on Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA). An antibacterial composition comprises an extract of Ulva lactuca prepared by using a solvent such as water, C1-4 alcohol or a mixture thereof, wherein the composition has the antibacterial activity on MRSA, Edwardsiella. sp, Vibrio. sp, Bacillus. sp, Micrococcus. sp, Staphylococcus. sp, Enterobacter. sp, Klebsiella. sp, Pseudomonas. sp, Salmonella. sp or E. coli.
