WIRE/WIRELESS NETWORK ACCESS AUTHENTICATION METHOD USING CHALLENGE MESSAGE BASED ON CHAP AND SYSTEM THEREOF

A network access authentication method using a CHAP(Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol) challenge message, and an authenticating system thereof are provided to reduce an authentication delay time by simplifying an authentication process using the CHAP challenge message. A network access authentication method using a CHAP challenge message includes the steps of: generating a first authentication value from a client, and transmitting an access request message to a server(S300); at the server, receiving and encrypting the access request message, and generating a second authentication value(S302); transmitting a response message including the second authentication value to the client(S304); at the client, comparing the first authentication value with the second authentication value(S306); if the first authentication value is the same as the second authentication value, authenticating the server, encrypting the response message, generating a third authentication value, and transmitting the response message including the third authentication value to the server(S312); at the sever, receiving and encrypting the response message and generating a fourth authentication value(S314); comparing the third authentication value with the fourth authentication value(S316); and if the third authentication value is the same as the fourth authentication value, authenticating the client(S320).
