A novel variety plant of Brassica koreana Lee var. red leaf is provided to replace lettuce as a vegetable for wrapping and be adequate for salad or green juice in case of being butter-headed. A novel variety plant of Brassica koreana Lee var. red leaf is bred by obtaining seed parent by mating a plant having the chromosome number of 2n=40, the plant being obtained by mating a plant having the chromosome number of 2n=40, which is obtained by mating Brassica campestris subsp. napus var. pekinensis "Pyeongchong no, 1" as a mother and Brassica oleracea var. capitata "Byeonggogyae" as a father, and a plant having the chromosome number of 2n=40, which is obtained by mating the Brassica oleracea var. capitata "Byeonggogyae" as a mother and the Brassica campestris subsp. napus var. pekinensis "Pyeongchong no, 1" as a father, applying radioactive rays thereto for line acclimatization, and seedling seeds fructified by the line acclimatization, is propagated by an asexual propagation method and has the characteristics of: having a little cylindrical and round leaf shape, having a petiole, of which the inside is inserted deeply and the outside is protruded and red-colored, having a lamina, of which a front and a rear sides are red-colored and sometimes purple or black colored, having a vein of which color is more red-colored than a plane, having an edge of the leaf, which is red-colored having some planar uneveness and irregularity, having a glossy foliage, showing weak self-incompatibility, and being a seed vernalization type.
