A method for preparing activated carbon from byproducts of tropical fruit biomass is provided to supply the method for preparing activated carbon by using a hydrolysis residue generated in the process of preparing the hydrolysate is provided. A method for preparing activated carbon comprises acid-hydrolyzing tropical fruit shells to obtain a hydrolysis residue, and carbonizing and activating the hydrolysis residue at a temperature of 500 to 1,000 deg.C for 72 to 168 hours. The tropical fruit shells are coconut shells and palm shells. An activated carbon is prepared by a method for preparing activated carbon, the method comprising acid-hydrolyzing tropical fruit shells to obtain a hydrolysis residue, and carbonizing and activating the hydrolysis residue at a temperature of 500 to 1,000 deg.C for 72 to 168 hours.
