A channel estimator using a pilot subcarrier signal in a cluster-based OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access) system and a method thereof are provided to implement optimal performance by selectively using an interpolation scheme and an MMSE(Minimum Mean Square Error) channel estimation based on a MCS(Modulation and Coding Scheme) level. A channel estimation method using a pilot subcarrier signal in a cluster-based OFDMA system includes the steps of: estimating a channel corresponding to a pilot subcarrier from a signal received through a wireless communication; after the channel estimation, calculating a channel estimation value of data subcarriers which exist on a frequency domain where the pilot subcarrier is located by performing interpolation to a time domain; and after the channel estimation calculation, calculating a channel estimation value corresponding to ten remained data subcarriers by performing channel interpolation in the frequency domain using channel corresponding to four subcarriers classified by OFDM symbols.
