A cosmetic composition comprising the extract of radish or radish seed protein is provided to reduce side effects such as skin irritation, improve preservation properties by inhibiting growth of bacteria, and prevent skin aging by inhibiting oxidation, so that the storage time period of cosmetics is extended. A cosmetic composition for extending the storage time period comprises 5-20 mg/ml of the extract of radish(RJ) or 0.5-2 mg/ml of radish seed protein(RSP) as preservatives, wherein the radish extract is prepared by washing and pulverizing the radish, filtering the pulverized radish with a filter paper to remove solids, and freeze-drying the radish solution; and the radish seed protein extract is prepared by washing and pulverizing radish seeds with buffer of pH 7.5-8.5, dipping the pulverized solution at 2-10 deg.C for 20 hours to 2 days and filtering and centrifuging the solution to obtain the supernatant, filtering the supernatant to remove and obtain crude protein solution, subjecting the crude protein solution to anion exchange chromatography, separating the non-adsorbed fraction, freeze-drying the non-adsorbed fraction, and subjecting the freeze-dried product to gel chromatography using hydrophilic gel.
