PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press roll for a paper machine provided with a sprayed ceramic layer exhibiting excellent performance for imparting smoothness, preventing the abrasion of a doctor blade and paper separation.;SOLUTION: The press roll for a paper machine is provided with a core roll and a sprayed ceramic layer formed on the outer circumference of the core roll. The sprayed ceramic layer satisfies the formulas Rk≤8.0μm and V0≥0.030 mm3/cm2 wherein Rk and V0 are each a characteristic evaluation parameter of the plateau surface structure and V0=(100-Mr2)×Rvk/2000 (mm3/cm2). In the formula, Rk is the level difference of the core part defined by JIS B0671-2-2002 (ISO 13565-2-1996), Mr2 is the load length ratio of the core part and Rvk is the depth of protruded valley.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
