Sleepiness protection device and application basis for Image recognition

A sleepiness protection device and an application for an image recognition type mobile communication terminal are provided to determine whether a driver is in a sleepiness state by detecting a period and a frequency of flickers of driver's eyes and generate an alarm sound through a speaker of a portable terminal in a sleepiness state. A sleepiness protection device for a terminal comprises the followings: a transceiver(30,40) for wireless communication with a wireless communication system; a mobile station modem for processing inputted/outputted in/from the transceiver; a controller(57) which includes a mobile operating system(58) for controlling the whole operations of the mobile station modem and includes a virtual machine(59) for performing an independent code of a platform by being operating by the mobile operating system; a user interface for transmitting commands of a user to the controller so that the user can control the controller; a camera(80) for transmitting an obtained image to the controller; a speaker(60) for outputting a sleepiness alarm sound, processed in the mobile station modem, to the user; and an application module(120).
