A method for removing heavy metal ions and chromaticity components from leachate is provided to treat the leachate generated from a landfill efficiently, by using steelmaking slag, byproduct generated from a steelmaking process of an iron foundry. Leachate of a landfill is homogenized. The homogenized leachate is passed through a column filled with steelmaking slag containing CaO to have a pH value of 8 or more, thereby precipitating heavy metal ions with metal hydroxide. The heavy metal ions remaining in the leachate after precipitation are adsorbed on fine pores of the steelmaking slag. The leachate passed by the column is pH-regulated to have a pH value of 6-8. The pH-regulated leachate is passed through a column filled with granular activated carbon, thereby removing chromaticity components therefrom.
