PURPOSE: A blast furnace operation method for accurately controlling the viscosity of slag so that the slag dropped into the lower part of the furnace has a proper fluidity by estimating the viscosity of slag dropped into the dead man part in blast furnace operation for continuously discharging hot metal and slag is provided. CONSTITUTION: In a blast furnace operation for alternately charging ore and coke into blast furnace through chute on the top of the blast furnace, the blast furnace operation method comprises a step of obtaining equilibrium expression required for formation of 2CaOSiO2 by supposing that nature and state of initial crystal phase of blast furnace slag generated in the lower part of the furnace are represented as 2CaOSiO2; a step of obtaining a viscosity estimation expression by defining a ratio of saturation amount in the slag to a degree of activity of C2S as viscosity value through the obtained equilibrium expression; and a step of estimating the viscosity of slag inside the blast furnace by utilizing the obtained viscosity estimation expression, wherein the viscosity estimation expression is used to estimate viscosity of blast furnace slag, having basicity (C/S) ranging from 1.3 to 1.6 and comprising 10 wt.% of Al2O3, 5 to 20 wt.% of FeO and 5 to 10 wt.% of MgO.
