A method for detecting infection by Sitophilus oryzae in crops is provided to detect specifically injurious insects in stored crops such as Sitophilus oryzae, Plodia interpunctella and Sitotroga cerealella through PCR using prepared primer pairs from a very small amount of rice, thereby being very useful for an early detection of the injurious insects in the crops. A method for detecting infection by Sitophilus oryzae in crops such as rice, barley, wheat, brown rice, sorghum, corn, hot pepper and soybean comprises a step of amplifying a primer pair selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID : NOs. 2 and 3, SEQ ID : NOs. 8 and 9, and SEQ ID : NOs. 10 and 11 to express a nucleotide band specific to the Sitophilus oryzae. A composition for detecting infection by Sitophilus oryzae in crops comprises the primer pair.
